The Metro Manila Film Festival holds a special place in the career of hot, handsome actor Dennis Trillo. It was in the 2004 MMFF where he won Best Supporting Actor for his wonderful feat as a nationalistic man dressed as a woman in "Aishite Imasu (Mahal Kita)." The award certified his immense talent and paved the way for greater things.
Dennis has another memorable MMFF movie after that. In 2005, he starred with Christopher de Leon and Eddie Garcia in the heartwarming "Blue Moon." He was so elated to be acting alongside award-winning Boyet and Manoy Eddie, both of whom he idolizes. Since the film was shot all over the Philippines, in places like Bicol and Baguio, a bonus for Dennis was the chance to be bond with the acting greats during the long drives and breaks.
This year, Dennis returns to the MMFF via the "Bangungot" episode of "Shake, Rattle and Roll 9." He plays the role of Jerome, fiance of Florence (Pauleen Luna) and the object of affection of shy Marione (Roxanne Guinoo). All Marione could do is admire Jerome from afar and witness his sweet moments with Florence. At the advice of a friend, Marione tries out a spell that would have her seeing Jerome in her sleep. Little did she know that this would unleash a monster that would stalk the three of them.

Director Mike Tuviera (who co-wrote the screenplay with Fairlane Raymundo and Venjie Pellena) expound on the concept: "It's about a lot of deeper things. The dream becomes a nightmare. The episode is a psycho horror, a character piece and that's why it's very challenging to do, especially for the three main leads."
"Bangungot" is Dennis' third and most demanding horror movie. Direk Mike reveals that the characterization of Dennis was "very, very good." More so for the vital ending where the actor had to run fast, act, and deliver dialogue almost simultaneously. Mike had planned the shots in his head, but Dennis had made the scene better, more memorable. "He was incredible! What made the ending truly gripping and surprising was Dennis' contribution."

Konting movie feedback sa SRR9. I don't know kung biased ako but sobrang nagustuhan ko ang ENGKANTO episode. Siguro dahil ang ganda ng exposure ni Mart sa episode na iyon and not to belittle his acting. He makes us (his friends, naks!) even proud of where he is now. Hindi ako magtataka kung sunod-sunod ang movies niya sa 2008 at malamang magkaroon pa ng lead role sa dramarama with her on-screen (and true to life?) partner na si Jennica Garcia.
Sam Concepcion has so much talent. Literal na hindi nagsasalita si Sam sa movie (except sa hulihan, watch the movie so you'll know why) but he was able to convey the fear and worry he feels for the rest of the cast. Isn't Sam a product of Playhouse Kids? tama ba? Correct me if I am wrong. Di lang pala magaling kumanta't sumayaw si Sam, sobrang exceptional pa sa acting. ABS, give Sam a break! He deserves it.
Tito ni Nash Aguas si John Pratts sa episode na Christmas Tree. Sa totoo lang, nakulangan ako sa acting ni John. He has something better to give. Ayoko lang yung part na nawalan siya ng malay at si Nash ang gumawa ng paraan upang masolusyunan ang krisis sa bahay. I like John but not in this movie.
Si Pauline Luna kokonti din ang labas sa movie, though sobrang effective. Mukha pa lang, alam mo na anong gusto nyang sabihin.
Mas maraming eksena sina Roxanne Guinoo at Dennis. In fairness kay Roxanne, pumalakpak ako. Good job! :)
Ok ang performance ni Jewel Mische for someone who is starting, and for someone who feels so much pressure. Una dahil unang pelikula nya ito at MMFF entry pa. Pangalawa, Topel Lee ang director. But she was able to manage her worries and has given acceptable acting. Tap on the back to you, Juju! :)

hi tiborxia! it's been a long time... but i just have to agree on what you said about Sam here. if only ABS gives him that break talga... he's so overflowing with talent and charm... glad you like him. hehe..
